New developments have emerged in the United States v. Coinbase case.

On September 20, 2017, a request to continue an October 5 hearing to November 9, 2017, was approved for the ongoing case between Coinbase and the IRS.

The Hearing on the Petition of the United States to Enforce the IRS Summons and Order will take place in San Francisco at 2:00 p.m. (PST) before the Honorable Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley. The case centers around the opposition that Coinbase and others have against a John Doe summons that was issued by the IRS. The summons seeks details of users of the cryptocurrency exchange that engaged in bitcoin transactions between 2013 and 2015. In the ensuing case of legal ping-pong, those on the sidelines will be waiting with baited breath for the outcome.

ETHNews will continue to follow the nuanced case and provide coverage of the resulting ruling.
