First of all, you have to plug your Netgear wireless range extender into a power outlet. Wait for a couple of minutes and let the LED (power) lights on it become solid.
Make sure that your range extender is placed within the reach of the existing WiFi router.
Now, use a computer or a laptop and connect to the NETGEAR_EXT SSID (default wireless network name).

Once your router is connected with the range extender with the help of an Ethernet cable, the LED on your Netgear device will blink.

Now, onto the displayed page, you have to hit on the option “New Extender setup.
Complete the extender setup screen by providing a valid email ID and password. Once done, click on next.
Note: This account is only meant for your Netgear range extender web user interface login credentials and the recovery of password.
Click on the option WiFi Range Extender once done.
After that, you have to select a WiFi network that you wish to extend. Click on next once done.
Enter the wireless passphrase (network key or password) and again click on next.
Enter your desired network name (SSID) and the security settings as well. Click on Next once done.
Note: In order to use a different wireless security type, it is recommended to select “Use a different password” and after that, please select the security type you prefer.
Connect your wireless devices to the Netgear WiFi range extender and click on Continue.
Congrats! Your Netgear extender is now configured successfully and properly. You can now click on next to proceed with the registration process.
Hit finish once you are done with the registration process.

Installing the Netgear Range Extender Using WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) Method
Firstly, what you have to do is to press and hold the WPS button on your WiFi range extender for a couple of seconds. Now, the WPS LED (power) lights on the front panel of your Netgear device will blink.
Secondly, within a few minutes, press the WPS button on your existing wireless router as well.
If your main WiFi router supports 5GHz band, then repeat the steps 1 and 2 and connect your smart wireless range extender with the 5GHz band.
